Multi User Voice Options
Overview
The E-Learning Lab documentation outlines several communication solutions for multi-user sessions.
Available Options
Mumble
Described as "an open-source, low-latency, high-quality voice chat software," Mumble allows users to host their own servers and join channels. The setup involves running the Mumble server on the computer hosting the SightLab server, then having each client configure audio settings and connect using the same hostname. Downloads are available at mumble.info/downloads, with direct Windows x64 links provided. Recent versions of the SightLab installer include an optional Mumble installation checkbox.
Discord
Users can establish a Discord server and join voice channels during their sessions. The documentation references a dedicated guide for implementing Discord audio.
TeamSpeak
Similar to Mumble, TeamSpeak functions as a voice chat service popular among gaming communities. Unlike Mumble, it requires a paid subscription but offers high-quality audio and self-hosted server options.
Additional Features
As of version 1.1.11, users can launch the Mumble server and client directly from the "Advanced" Tools section within E-Learning Lab, streamlining the setup process.
